I had a friend, who is a few years older than me, give me a few of those card-size, lighted, magnifiers so I could keep them in my home, car and purse. I smiled and accepted, thinking when I might ever need these visual aids ( I've always had excellent vision). Well, at 43 they are slowly coming in handy. I use them occasionally and my husband (who is 8 years older but has always had the vision of a super-hero) is asking me for them all the time now. It's not fun, but I guess it's good we are not alone.

Another thing I learned: the results can change! Official results might say one thing one day, and another the next. My son went from second place to third and his time adjusted for some reason as yet unknown. I guess the timing chips aren't perfect.

We had it in fourth grade and it was a nightmare. Glad to hear he's figured out a way to navigate it. It is so heartbreaking when they keep it to themselves and don't ask for help. :(
